CLASSMATE CRITIQUE

This photo by Marcus Sherfield was taken and posted on August 12 2014. i chose this picture out of all the food pictures because first of all its corn nuts... i love corn nuts. it caught my attention because it focuses on the nuts that fell out of the bag. bluing out the background and front of the bag made it different that other pictures in his blogspot.

Another photo by Marcus sherfield shows the beauty of nature. i like this more because it has a great focus towards the bright purple flower. the colors are completely different from the whole photo. this could be improved by centering the flower and choosing a better background but overall i like this picture.
This is a recreated art picture Marcus and i did together and looks very similar to what the project was. the background represented the marble background the original photo had. it couldn't be any better .

NPR Extra Credit

The first shown picture i thought of how old the picture was because of the black and white effect. i noticed how well dressed they were and how clean their hair was. the audio describes them just as i suspected saying that these young teenagers were attending the university of Chicago.if you look closely they're looking into each others eyes giving a weird stare to each other. what i didn't suspect was that they both set up a "perfect" murder killing a 14 year old boy. later they were caught and this was the photograph of them seeing each other for the first time after the murder.wondering if they ratted each other out. The emotion in this photo shows is very subtle and confused because you can think of anything that these men have done in their lives and never expect that they were Chicago gangsters that murdered a boy.

One Page Notes

This photo caught my attention mainly because of the wide angle effect it has on the picture. The colors and contrast shown are very deep. the lighting seemed to be perfect for the setting of where its at and what it is. the perspective and dimensions are interesting and that's what else seemed interesting. not really a fan of warm colors, im more on to the cold color side but this just fits right for this pic
.
This is a simple but interesting photo that made me click into it. i like this picture because it seems like a cool angle that we never see. the curve on the bench makes this shot look like the whole photo is curved itself. the black and white is a major to it and makes it seem dramatic and old in my opinion.

i like this picture because she caught my attention at first but there's more to it. the photo was well taken with nice and cold colors opposite of the first picture above. im more into the cool color effect because it just seems nice and relaxing as warm is a more intense feeling. Her scarf and the snow adds great texture to this picture

Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO, & Light Explained-Understanding Exposure & Camera Settings

  • The brighter the lights the faster the shutter speed would need to be to compensate.
  • understanding these camera setting will help you get the perfect photo.
  • we set the camera on automatic (p) for those who dont really understand how to use the other settings on the camera.
  • the more exposure there is the brighter the photo will turn out to be.
  • ISO is the sensitivity of the cameras sensor
  • if you increase the ISO you increase the sensor by one stop. meaning make the photo brighter
  • if the photo was taken at a higher ISO it seen as "noisy" aka film grain.
  • the IOS100 photo will be more clearer without the grainy look in the picture
  • shutter speed is controlled in shutter priority mode
  • choosing a lower f stop number opens up the aperture of the camera
  • a higher f stop number makes the whole photo clear. controlling the aperture of the camera makes it focus on the whole photo.
  • camera flash is important because it can give too much brightness
  • but there are options to compensate for that like back light and front light.
